Wedding Celebrant in Italy
Symbolic, Celtic & Handfasting Ceremonies
Your story, at the heart of your Italian wedding
A wedding ceremony in Italy should feel like your wedding, not a script written for someone else.
I create and officiate bespoke symbolic wedding ceremonies across Italy, for international and Italian couples who want something personal, meaningful and beautifully connected to the place where they have chosen to marry.
Whether you are planning a destination wedding on Lake Como, in Milan, Tuscany, Venice, Puglia or elsewhere in Italy, we will create a ceremony around your story, your words and what you want this moment to mean.
A Ceremony that Feels like You
Perhaps you are already legally married at home and want your Italian wedding to be the ceremony that your family and friends actually experience.
Perhaps a civil ceremony feels too formal or too brief.
Or perhaps you simply want the freedom to create something that reflects who you are as a couple.
A symbolic wedding ceremony gives you that freedom.
We take the time to understand your story, your relationship, the people who matter to you and the atmosphere you want to create. I then write your ceremony from scratch, weaving your story together with the words, vows, readings, rituals and symbols that feel right for you.
The result is not a standard ceremony with your names added to it.
It is your story, told in a way that feels unmistakably yours.
Symbolic, Celtic & Handfasting Ceremonies
I specialise in ceremonies that combine personal storytelling with meaningful ritual.
Symbolic wedding ceremonies
A completely bespoke ceremony, written around your relationship, your values and the promises you want to make.
Celtic wedding ceremonies
A ceremony inspired by Celtic tradition, nature and ancient symbols of union, shaped around your own story rather than a fixed script.
Celtic handfasting
The ancient ritual of binding the hands with ribbons or cords, symbolising commitment and union. Handfasting can be the heart of your ceremony or one element within a wider symbolic wedding.
Nature inspired ceremonies
For couples who want the landscape itself to become part of the ceremony — whether you are marrying in a private garden, woodland, countryside, historic estate or beside one of Italy's beautiful lakes.
Spiritual non-religious ceremonies
For couples who want depth, symbolism and ritual without following a particular religion. You do not need to be Pagan, spiritual or familiar with Celtic traditions to work with me. The ceremony begins with what matters to you.
Vow renewals
A meaningful way to celebrate the years you have shared, renew your promises and mark an important chapter in your life together.
Other rites of passage: Naming ceremonies, baby blessings, and farewell ceremonies
I also officiate other rites of passage, including naming ceremonies, baby blessings and farewell ceremonies, created with care to honour the important moments and transitions of life.
Planning Your Ceremony From Abroad
Planning a wedding from abroad can feel complicated, particularly when you are organising everything from thousands of miles away.
That is why the ceremony itself should be one part of the wedding you can simply trust to someone who knows what she is doing.
We begin with a video call, so you can tell me about your wedding, your plans for Italy and the kind of ceremony you have in mind.
From there, I guide you through the creative process remotely. We discuss the structure, your vows, readings, rituals and symbols, and I write the complete ceremony for you.
You will have a ceremony that feels personal before you ever arrive in Italy.
On the wedding day, I arrive with the ritual elements I provide and officiate the ceremony from beginning to end.
You get to be present for your wedding, rather than worrying about how the ceremony is going to work.
English-Speaking and Bilingual Ceremonies
I officiate ceremonies entirely in English, entirely in Italian, or bilingually in English and Italian.
This is particularly useful for international and multicultural couples whose families and friends may be travelling to Italy from different countries.
The aim is not simply to translate the same words twice. It is to make sure that everyone in the circle can understand, follow and feel part of the ceremony.
Weddings Across Italy
I am based in Milan, Lombardy, and travel throughout Italy for weddings and ceremonies.
This includes Milan and the Italian Lakes, including Lake Como, Lake Maggiore and Lake Garda, as well as Tuscany, Venice, the countryside, the islands, and other destinations chosen by the couple.
Your ceremony can take place at your chosen venue — a private villa, historic estate, garden, woodland, lakeside setting or another meaningful location.
Travel and accommodation, when required, are arranged separately.
For Wedding Planners and Destination Wedding Teams
As wedding celebrant in Italy, I also work with wedding planners, destination wedding planners, venues and other wedding professionals looking for an experienced English-speaking celebrant for their international clients.
If you are looking for a wedding celebrant in Italy to create and officiate a bespoke symbolic, Celtic or handfasting ceremony in Italy, I would be happy to discuss your couple's requirements and the best way to work together.
Your Wedding Celebrant
Welcome!
I am Anna, Priestess of the Goddess and of Avalon, trained for three years at the Glastonbury Goddess Temple in the UK, and founder of the Milan International Goddess Temple.
My background in the Avalon tradition, in the practices of ancient Europe, and in ritual and the study of old cultures allows me to bring a deep understanding of symbols, ritual and meaning into every ceremony I create.
You do not need to share my spiritual path to choose me as your celebrant.
I listen to your story, gather what makes you who you are as a couple, and shape it into a ceremony that is personal, deeply felt, and full of meaning — created for you, and for the people you love.
My role is to build, together with you, a space where your story can be told, where your promises can find the right words, and where your wedding can be celebrated in a way that feels entirely, unmistakably yours.
I look forward to meeting you,
Anna
From Couples I Have Married
We asked Anna to celebrate our vow renewal, exactly a year and a day after our handfasting. For us, this wasn't simply a different way of marking our marriage — it was our way of understanding life and spirituality itself.
From the very beginning, Anna understood exactly what we were looking for in the ceremony: intimacy, emotional depth, and symbolism that felt entirely our own. Every gesture, every object we used, every moment we built together under her guidance fitted perfectly into the wider picture.
Our guests — even those who came in a little sceptical about such an unusual ritual — loved most of all that it was a moment that spoke of us, full of meaning that everyone could relate to, and everyone felt part of it, not least because we were all standing together in a circle.
The most moving moment for us was when our family and friends bound our hands with ribbon, blessing us with their wishes. Giving guests an active role within the circle and the ceremony, just as they are part of our lives, is without doubt one of the great strengths of a Celtic rite.
We couldn't recommend Anna more warmly — for her experience, and for her ability to truly see into a couple's heart and understand them at a deep level. She gave us a day we will never forget.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. A symbolic wedding ceremony or handfasting has no legal effect in Italy.
Many international couples complete the legal marriage in their home country and then hold their symbolic ceremony in Italy. Others arrange the civil paperwork separately in Italy.
The advantage is that the symbolic ceremony gives you complete freedom over the words, setting, structure and rituals.
As a wedding celebrant in Italy, I travel throughout Italy, including Milan, Lombardy, the Italian Lakes, Tuscany, Venice, the South, Sardinia, Sicily, and all other destinations.
As soon as possible, especially for dates during the most requested periods of the year.
If you already have a date and a location, write to me: we can check availability together - info@tempiointernazionaledelladea.com
